Create Network Connection Shortcut
This article shows you how you can add or create a shortcut to your desktop screen of network connections or pin it to the Windows taskbar, so that you can access it very quickly and easily. Follow the steps given below:

Note: The following steps will work with Windows 7 and later Windows versions including Windows 11.
First, will create a Network Connections Shortcut to the Desktop screen.
Step 1. We need to create a shortcut to desktop. To do this, right-click on the desktop screen, navigate to New and then select Shortcut.
Step 2. The above steps will launch the Create Shortcut wizard on your screen. Now enter the following string in the location box and click the Next button

Step 3. Once you click the Next button. On the next screen, rename it to Network Connection and click on Finish to close the wizard.
Step 4. It’s great! You have just created a Network Connections shortcut to your desktop.
Now, if you want to change its Icon, right-click on the created shortcut and select properties.
Step 5. Network Connections Properties Windows will appear on your screen.
- Under the Shortcut tab
- Click on the Change Icon button
- Change Icon box will launch, type ncpa.cpl and hit on Enter
- Select the Network icon in the search result
- Lastly, click the OK button to apply the changes and close
The network connection shortcut has now been successfully created on your desktop.
To check, double click on it and it will launch the network connection window on your screen and will show you all the Network Adapters. Just one click and you can now reach the network adapters.
How do I Pin the Network Connections Shortcut to the Taskbar?
To pin this shortcut to the Windows Taskbar, you can simply drag and drop it to the free space on your Taskbar and it will stick there.
Alternatively, you can right-click on the network connection shortcut and select Pin to taskbar.
Once you are done. You can now see that the network connection icon has been placed on your taskbar.
It is up to you if you would like to use a desktop shortcut or the taskbar pin icon to open network connections.
