Why is a Password Important for a PDF?

For Adobe files, password protection is very important nowadays. For instance, if you are sending any important PDF file to the email or through any social site then it is important to make PDF file password protected.

This is important for confidential and important documents (like bank statements, identity proofs, or any business documents etc.)

How to Password Protect a PDF File?

Step 1. Navigate to the PDF file that you want to protect with a password (do not open).

Right-click on it and select Open with option and choose Microsoft Word to open a PDF file.

Step 2. Once the PDF file is open in Microsoft Word, go to the File Menu and select the Save As option.

After that, choose your desired location to save the file.

Step 3. In the Save As dialog box, go down to Save As type: and select PDF from the given list.

Step 4. Once the PDF is selected as a Save As type, click on the Options button.

Step 5. Now you will see the Options dialog box with so many other options on it.

Tick-mark the check box to Encrypt the document with a password and click the OK button.

Create a password of your choice, then click the OK button and finally click on the Save Button to close the dialog box.

Congratulations, you have successfully protected your PDF file with a password. To check this, go to the location that you have selected to save in the above Step 2.

Locate the file and double click to open it. It will ask you to enter a password in order to open the PDF file.
