Microsoft Outlook Contacts

How to Export and Import Outlook Contacts?
In this tutorial, i will show you the complete process to take backup and restore (export and import of outlook contacts) Microsoft outlook contacts.
I am using Microsoft Outlook 2016 but the given procedure will work with later Office editions as well. For example, in Office 365 as well as in Office 2021.
For instance to show you, first, we will export (backup) the contacts and then we will import (restore). Follow the steps given below:
Export Outlook Address Book
Step 1. Open Outlook 2016. Go to the File Menu and click Open & Export. Then select the Import/Export option.
Step 2. Import and Export Wizard will appear on your screen. Select Export to a file and click on the Next button.
Step 3. Now select Comma Separated Values and click the Next button.
Step 4. Now, under Select the folder to export from: select the Contacts (This computer only) and click on the Next button.
Step 5. Under Save exported file as: click on Browse (Image 1).
Another dialog box will appear on your screen and ask you to select the location where you want to save this (I have selected Desktop – Image 2), name it as contacts backup and click OK.
You will go back on to Export to a File then click the Next button.
Step 6. In the dialog box, click on the Finish button. It will do a little process and you are done backing up your contacts.
Import Outlook Address Book
Step 1. Open Outlook 2016. Go to the File Menu and click Open & Export. Then select Import/Export.
Step 2. Select Import from another program or file and click on Next.
Step 3. Under Select the file type to import, click Comma separated values, and then click Next.
Step 4. In next step, Import a file: click on Browse. Another dialog box will appear on your screen and will ask you to select the backup file to Import and click Open. You can go back on to Import a File.
- Replace duplicates with items imported
- Allow duplicates to be created
- Do not import duplicate items
Then click the Next button.
Step 5. Under the Select destination folder: click the folder for the imported contacts, and then click Next.
Step 6. Under The following action will be performed and the contact file is already selected. Just click on Finish.
You have successfully imported your backed up contacts.
