Hard Drive Partition Name
In Microsoft Window, whenever you open Windows File Explorer, it comes with hard drive partitions i.e drive C, drive D, etc and name appears like “Local Disk“. User wants to change that name from Local Disk to his/her desire name (music, data, pictures, etc) as data stored on drives. But they stuck because they don’t know the processor of changing hard drive partition name. Do you know how you can change hard drive partition name easily in a Windows computer?

This article shows you the two methods to change hard drive partition name. It’s pretty easy to change any drive name to anything you wish. Follow the steps below to change drive name:
Method 1: Rename with Context Menu
Method 2: Rename hard disk by its Properties
Rename with Context Menu
The first method is to change hard drive partition name by doing from “Rename with Context Menu”. Open “This PC” in 8.1 & Windows 10. For Windows 7 and 8.1; open “Computer” from desktop screen, if you already placed an icon on Desktop. Alternatively, you can use key combination of “Win + E” to open Windows file explorer. Then, follow the steps given below:
Step 1. By opening Windows explorer, you will hard drive partition there. Choose any hard drive partition that you wish to change the name and Right-click on it then, select “Rename”.
Step 2. Now, explorer will give you an option to type any Name you wish to do for hard drive partition. Type your desired name (mine is New Volume) and press Enter from your keyboard.
Step 3. An authentication window will be prompted. You need to click Continue on this pop-up “Access Denied” dialog box to provide administrator permission to rename it.
Rename hard disk by its Properties
The second method is to change hard drive partition name by doing “Rename from the hard disk properties”. Follow below steps:
Step 1. Choose any hard drive partition which you wish to change the name and Right-click on it and select “Properties”.
Step 2. Go to the under General Tab, enter the new name in the name box and click on Apply and OK.
