If you remember, in April 2018 Microsoft released Windows 10 major update called April update (Redstone 4). It came up with dozens of new features included in it. Earlier, the Fall Creators update was released on October 2017. Now, Good news for all Windows 10 users. As you already know that Microsoft is about to release a major update for Windows 10. It will be released in next month on October 2018 and it’s a 6th major update of Windows 10 by Microsoft. This update is also known as October 2018 update or its code name Redstone 5 update version 1809 (build 17763) for Windows 10. Improvements of Microsoft Edge Browser

In Windows 10 Redstone 5 update; Microsoft made some major changes in Edge browser settings. Since Edge was introduced by Microsoft, it’s hard to find important options like privacy, advanced settings, passwords, forms, general settings, etc.

But after Windows 10 October 2018 update, Edge is enhanced and it’s very easy to find desired options on Microsoft Edge. Also, while playing audio or videos on Edge, you will see an icon of a speaker that’s allowed you toggle sound ON and OFF. Navigate to Edge Menu à Settings then, you will see the options as shown in the image below:

Clipboard History & Sync

Windows 10 is introducing a new feature called “Clipboard history and sync across devices”. You can access and turn on Clipboard settings by following Windows Settings –> System –> Clipboard. By using the clipboard, you can save multiple items to the Windows 10 clipboard to use them later. Just you can use the key combination “Win + V” to view and copy clipboard history.

Screenshot Utility – Snipping Tool

Along with above new features, Microsoft has added one more option of Screenshot utility (Snipping tool) to take screenshot anywhere on your computer screen. So far, we use “Print Screen SysRq” key on the desktop’s and “prt sc” key on laptops to take screenshots in an easy way. Now Microsoft has made it easier for Windows 10 users. Now when you press the key combination of “Win + Shift + S” from your keyboard, then, snipping tool appears on your screen. Rest you can navigate Windows Settings –> Ease of Access –> Keyboard and make settings as per your need.

Windows 10 Storage Sense

In Windows 10 October 2018 update, Microsoft introduced a new feature called Storage Sense. This feature gives you an option that Windows can automatically free up by getting rid-of useless files that you don’t need, like temporary files, folders and content in the Windows recycle bin. Turn on the radio button of Storage Sense by following Windows Settings –> System –> Storage.

Windows File Explorer Dark Theme

In an Earlier Windows update, we got an option to enable dark theme mode for Microsoft Edge by navigating to Edge Menu –> Settings –> Choose a theme –> Dark

But in the October 2018 update (version 1809), Microsoft allows you to choose a Dark theme for Windows File Explorer. You can enable Windows File Explorer, by following Windows Settings –> Personalization –> Colors –> Choose your default app mode toDark”. It will convert File Explorer Context Menus along with the right-click context menu. Whenever you would like to change back, navigate and change the default app mode to “Light”. New Windows Start Menu Search Previews

Windows 10 search, also known as a Cortana search feature. Once you Windows 10 will be updated to Redstone 5 with the October 2018 update; it will start showing you the “search previews in the start menu search” for a better user experience. The search result shown on search preview will be on the Bing search engine owned and operated by Microsoft. Check the image below:
