How to do a Factory Reset on Windows 10?

Let’s see how to Reset a windows 10 with the steps given below:

Step 1. Launch Windows 10 Settings App

  • Click on Windows Start Menu. From the left pane, locate and click on Settings.
  • Alternatively, press Win + I to open Windows 10 settings.

Step 2. Select Update & Security.

Step 3. From the left pane, click on Recovery.

Move your mouse pointer to the right-side and click on Get Started button under “Reset this PC” section.

factory reset windows 10Step 4. Now you need to choose an option at next screen appears. Click either Keep my files or Remove everything, depending on whether you want to keep your data files.

If you don’t have any personal data then, go with remove everything option and all Windows settings will return to their defaults and any third party installed apps will be removed.

  • Keep my files: If you choose this option on the screen, it will remove apps and settings, but keep your personal files, documents, music or data files, etc.
  • Remove everything: If you choose this option on the screen, this will erase all of your installed apps and settings along with all of your stored data in it.
    Note: before you select Remove everything option make sure that you have backed up all your data from your computer. This process will make your computer to default settings.

Step 5. You will get a Windows warning, if you will reset this PC, you won’t be able to undo the upgrade and go back to the previous version of Windows. Click on Next.

Lastly, this process will take several minutes to reset your Windows.

Once it’s done, you will get startup screen and it will finalize startup setting by itself.
