For example, check the screenshots below wherein you can see the missing sharing tab in the first image and you can see the sharing tab in the second image:

If you use an office network or a home network to share documents, files, folders, music, etc. between a group of computers, you need to share that particular file or folder in the network.

Many users face this kind of problem in which they cannot find the Sharing Tab in the folder properties, when they want to share any folder in their network. This can happen with any version of Windows.

It is very important that you should be aware about why this problem occurs in windows computers.

In most cases this happens due to the Security Accounts Manager and Server services could have stopped for some reason.

To fix this problem we need to start those services.

Missing Sharing Tab from Folder Properties

The following fix will work with Windows 7 and later Windows operating systems including Windows 11 as well.

Step 1. Open Windows Services.

To open Windows Services, open the Run command by using a keyboard key combination Win + R. Once the Run dialog box opens, type services.msc and hit the OK button.

Step 2. Once the Windows Services page is open, scroll down to the list and look for Security Accounts Manager and Server services.

You can check the status of each and see if one or both services have not started.

Step 3. To start a particular service or both, double-click on both services one by one and make sure under the General tab Startup typeAutomatic” is selected in the drop-down box.

Step 4. Click on the Start button below to immediately start the service, once Automatic is selected.

This will do a little process and will go automatically, finally click on the OK button to close the Properties window.

Step 5. Check in Services for Server service status is currently running as there is no status in Step 2.

Now check, certainly, the Sharing option will re-appear in the folder properties or context menu without any problem.

  1. If despite all the fixes for this issue your Sharing tab is still missing, look here:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Blocked

    I found {f81e9010-6ea4-11ce-a7ff-00aa003ca9f6} was being blocked.

    I have no idea how that happened, but it was after the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit 1803 (April Feature) Update.
