Gmail app password is important if you are trying to login into any third-party app on devices.

If you have already enabled 2-step verification for your Gmail account (basically Google account) then, app password is required for login.

For instance, you are attempting to login your Gmail on Microsoft outlook or any other device and its keep prompting you to enter Gmail password. Although, you are tying a correct password. This means, you have already enabled 2-step verification for your Google/Gmail account.

In this case, creating an app specific password will solve your problem and allow you to login.

Note: To clarify, Google now requires you to enable 2-step verification in order to generate or create an app specific password to login third-party apps & devices.

Create Gmail App Specific Password

If you see the message while login attempt that “password incorrect” then, generate Gmail app password quickly and this will resolve your issue.

App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have the 2-Step Verification turned on.

Here is how you setup app password easily:

Step 1. Open any of your browser and login to the below URL link and it will directly take you to your Google Dashboard. Your current password may require to log in.

Step 2. Once you see your Google dashboard. After that, click on Security tab from the left pane

Note: Most probably, you may ask to enter your existing password for security reasons. Enter your password and click Next

Step 3. As a result, you are reached at App password options

Step 4. Lastly, a screen will be prompted which shows “your app password for Windows Computer” which contains 16-digit character code.

Just you need to enter this passcode like your normal password and you will be granted a complete access to Google Account.

Revoke Google App Specific Password

So whenever, you want to remove app specific password from you Gmail/Google account. Just need to reach on Step 3 and you will find a delete symbol or trash symbol just besides the created specific app password.

Click that delete/trash symbol and it will be removed. Along with your Google or Gmail account will be logged out from that app in which it was signed in.
