So far you should have installed a registered version of Microsoft office in order to configure your email address in it.

Difference Between POP and IMAP Configuration

There are two different protocols to configure your webmail to Microsoft outlook.

  1. IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)
  2. POP (Post Office Protocol)

What is IMAP?

The most important difference is that IMAP is always connected and syncs with the web mail server.

This means that if you make any changes to configured email clients (like: Outlook) it will have an immediate effect on your web mail server (example: if you delete any email from outlook, it will be deleted from the mail server)

What is POP?

Once an email client is configured with POP settings, everything will be downloaded to your mail client (outlook) and your web mail server will be blank/empty (there are few settings that can allow you to keep email in both places).

If you make any changes to the web mail server it will not show to your mail client.

Allow Settings from Gmail Account

Most importantly, before we configure Outlook for Gmail, we need to allow the Gmail server to forward your emails to the client’s app (outlook).

Follow our easy instructions for enabling IMAP or POP access to your Gmail account:

Step 1. Launch Gmail login page and sign in with your current username and password.

Step 2. Once signed in, navigate to and click on the Gear icon from the right side and select Settings.

Step 3.
Look for Forwarding and POP/IMAP and click on it. Now you will see several settings now.

Consequently, IMAP settings are now enabled to configure Outlook. These are the only settings required from Gmail’s end. You may now close Gmail webpage.
