There’s a Problem with Your Office License

We totally understand that you might get frustrated with one of the above notifications that keeps coming on your Microsoft office apps such as on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
However, we have already provided two different methods to fix or resolve this issue and it works for many users but not for the few.

Hereby, in a solution, we come up with method 3 to fix the issue of there’s problem with your office license or your license is not genuine notification.
How to Fix There’s a Problem with Your Office License?
Note: We highly recommend that you initially try Method 1 and if that does not work for you then, go to Method 2 and finally if that also does not work for you, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Open Windows Command Prompt with Admin rights.

Step 2. Type or copy/paste the following command on the command prompt and hit the Keyboard Enter button
cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"
Step 3. Copy/paste another command and again hit Enter from your keyboard
OfficeC2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13801.20266
Step 4. The above commands will initiate the product update process and this may downgrade or upgrade your installed Microsoft office version
Note: Download and update process will depend on the internet speed. In our case, it took around 5-7 minutes.
Duration may vary in your case.
Step 5. Once the update is processed successfully, you will receive Updates were installed screen similar to the image below:
In addition, we need to disable Microsoft Office application updates as well.
How to Disable Microsoft Office Updates?
This is a very important and mandated task after you are done with the above process. We need to disable Office updates.
Follow both procedures given below:
Disable Office Updates from any of the Microsoft Applications
- Open any MS Office app such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Navigate to the File Menu and select Account from the given list
- Now under Product Information, you will see Office Update Options
- Click on it and select Disable Updates
Disable Office Updates from Windows Settings App
- Press Win + I to launch the Windows Settings App (Windows 10)
- Click Advanced Options on the Windows Update Page
- Finally, turn off the toggle button on Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows
As a result, the notification that you are getting to your office application will be gone.
At this point, certainly, the issue of your license isn’t genuine and you may be a victim of software counterfeiting” or “there’s a problem with your office license” will be resolved.
