Remember the old download bar, which is at the bottom of the browser? Certainly, this article will guide you how to enable classic download bar in Microsoft Edge.

For an example, here is what we are talking about:

The above screenshot is of Google Chrome, but at the end of this article, you can see the same download bar on your Microsoft Edge browser.

If you download any file from the internet and notice that Microsoft Edge immediately displays a download icon to its toolbar which shows you the download progress in a new float popup.

The below screenshot shows you the new download Fly-out user interface along with its download icon on the Edge toolbar.

Many users really do not like the new Fly-out for downloads toolbar in the top-right corner of Microsoft Edge browser.

Restore Classic Download Panel for Edge Downloads

You might have noticed, if older version of the Edge browser, download bar was showing up in the bottom of the Edge.

If you are one of them who do not like the new Flyout UI for Edge downloads, follow the steps below and restore old classic download panel at the bottom of Microsoft Edge.

Step 1. We need to access Microsoft Edge browser shortcut properties. One of below option can help you with this:

Step 2. Navigate to end of the Target field and add the following text on it:

--disable-features=msDownloadsHub

Step 3. Finally, click Apply and OK to save the changes.

The above settings will enable classic download bar in Microsoft Edge browser.

Now, relaunch the edge browser and try to download something from the internet or what you wanted to download.

Download will start at the bottom of edge as used to do in its older version.

Note: Let’s assume, in future, if you want to the new download UI at the top of the edge on the toolbar?

Quite simple to restore the settings to default.

Go back to Microsoft Edge shortcut Properties and remove the added text from Target field and save the changes.

Congratulation! Here you are back to the default download settings.
